Letters from Teachers and Your Brilliant Work!

Spring 2

Week 1 (22.02.21) - Week 2 (01.03.21)

Hello Year 5!

Well, didn’t that week go quickly? We hope that you had a fantastic half term with your families and managed to (safely!) get outside in the lovely warmer weather we had. Did you recognise that giant, yellow thing up in the sky?! A walk in the sunshine makes you feel so much better, even if it is only for a few minutes before the clouds reappear!

We have uploaded lots of exciting activities for you to have a go at over the next couple of weeks. We are hoping that Boris Johnson will tell us today that you’re coming back to school soon, so fingers crossed this is our last upload of home learning to the website.

You need to complete all of the Maths and English lessons; hopefully this is very clear to follow. We have uploaded 5 lessons per week and we will be completing the same lessons in school in order, so if you are doing a mixture of learning at school and at home, it should be very straight forward for you to keep track of which lessons you need to complete.

In other exciting news, we are starting our brand-new topic! It’s called ‘Off with her Head!’ and is all about the Tudors. We’re so excited about this one, it’s definitely one of our favourites, although we seem to say that about EVERY topic we teach! There is a topic lesson for you to complete and you’ll notice that some of your writing and reading tasks for the next two weeks link to our topic.

We have also uploaded a science, art and French lesson for you to have a go at.

Finally, it’s World Book Day on Thursday 4th March, hooray! Although it’s sad that we’re not going to be altogether to celebrate as usual, we would LOVE to see how you’re getting involved at home. Take a look at our Reading page to find out all about the activities we would like you to try.

At some point over the next two weeks (we will leave it up to you and your families to decide when), we would like you to have a 'No Screen Day'. You can find out a bit more about that and get some ideas for activities you could complete instead here:

https://www.st-richards.worcs.sch.uk/no-screen-day-activities/

Have a great two weeks, stay safe and keep smiling. Hopefully, it’s not long now until we’re all back together again.

The Year 5 Team ☺

Half Term

We've made it! Well done to all of you (and your fabulous grown ups) for making it through this term. We are so so SO proud of you all for being so resilient, hard working and mature through what is such a strange time in the world.

We hope you and you families have a brilliant half term and enjoy the break from home learning or school. You have all worked so hard and definitely deserve it!

Please keep safe and we really hope that Spring 2 will be the term we're all back together again.

We've added some of your brilliant work from the last week or so below. Take a look and see if you can spot yours.

Take care and fingers crossed we'll see you soon! smiley

Week 5 (3.2.21) - 6 (10.2.21)

Hello Year 5!

Wow, can you believe we’re on the last upload of home learning for the term? As always, we have been so impressed with your fantastic work, whether you have been learning at home, in school or a combination of the two! We absolutely love seeing what you have been up to, so see if you can spot a piece of your work below! If you haven’t sent us any work yet, remember to politely ask your adults to email us at [email protected] or to send us your work on Seesaw. We need to be seeing two of your fabulous pieces of work a week.

We’ve uploaded lots of exciting activities for you to have a go at over the next few weeks. We are aware that we have uploaded lots of activities this time; we just keep finding such brilliant things for you to be doing! We’d like you to have a go at all of the maths tasks and most of the writing ones (see our message on the writing page about the minimum to complete), but please pick and choose from the other activities uploaded to find something that interests you. Remember that this home learning needs to last you up until Thursday 11th February, as this is the day we break up for half term. Please plan your time carefully, spread the activities out, pick things that spark your imagination and read every single day – it’s so important. There's also a new competition on TT Rockstars! It's against Year 3 and Year 4, so get practising to make sure we win!!

We hope that you and your families are keeping safe at home. Thank goodness it’s February; we were so pleased to have some slightly warmer weather yesterday after a very cold end to January. The brighter mornings and longer evenings are just around the corner and Spring is on its way, so we don’t have much longer to wait until things hopefully start to look a bit more normal.

We miss you all so much and can’t wait to be together again. Keep up the wonderful work, we’re looking forward to hearing from you all soon.

Keep smiling and keep being the superstars we know you are!

Week 3 - 4

Hello Year 5!

We have been so impressed by the fantastic work that you have emailed to us, keep it up. If you haven’t sent us any work yet, remember to politely ask your adults to email us at [email protected]. We need to be seeing two of your fabulous pieces of work a week. Take a look below at some of the great work that we have been sent, can you spot yours?

We’ve uploaded lots of exciting activities for you to have a go at over the next few weeks. Remember that they need to last you up until Tuesday 2nd February, so plan your time carefully to spread the activities out.

We hope that you and your families are keeping safe at home. We miss you lots and hope that it’s not long before we can all be back together again!

Keep up the brilliant work, we can't wait to hear from you soon.

Week 1 - 2

Hello Year 5!

Well, this wasn't how we were expecting to start 2021! Firstly, Happy New Year - we hope you had a brilliant Christmas. We are so sad that we won't be seeing you for a while now, but we have lots of exciting activities planned for you to do at home. Take a look below at each of the pages where you will find SODA (you may like to start your day with this, like we do in school!), English, Maths (remember to keep up with TT Rockstars too, we'll be checking!) and Other Activities. At the end of each week, choose two of the activities you complete that you are most proud of and kindly ask your adults to email photographs of them to us at [email protected]. The activities we have included are for the next two weeks, so we will next upload some work for you on Wednesday 20th January. Each time we upload work, we will add it to the 'where you can find new content' section below. We hope this will make it really easy for you to find where your home learning is, as you just need to click each link!

We will miss you lots but we know that staying at home is the right thing to do to keep everyone safe at the moment. There is light at the end of the tunnel and we will meet again soon. Make sure you are doing some home learning every day and also make sure that you have some fun too! Completing a puzzle, helping to make lunch or reading with your siblings are all brilliant examples of things you can do that are helpful and also great fun!

Stay safe at home with your lovely families, we look forward to hearing about all of the fabulous learning you get up to!
