In Maths in year 1 we have been doing lots of number work. Some great activities to keep your child active in maths are:

  • Counting - search for Jack Hartmann on youtube for some super fun counting videos.
  • Adding and Taking away with numbers up to 10 or 20.
  • Practising number formation - getting numbers the wrong way round is very common so practise makes perfect!
  • Maths games - carry on using Numbots as much as possible as well as other games that we have linked below:

In maths this week we are learning all about addition. Please take a look at the worksheets provided below and work your way through them at your own pace.

Worksheet Example

This is an example of how the children can work out their answers. They will need to draw their tens (green sticks) and ones (orange squares) to represent each number. This will then support them with finding out the total. E.g. 15 has 1 ten and 5 ones.

This week we are focusing on subtraction. Take a look at the worksheets provided and use the number lines to support you.
