AMAZING AFRICA!
Use Google Earth, it is a fantastic way to introduce children to the continent of Africa. Start with the globe then focus from where the UK is. Share the power point about Africa then encourage the children to identify all the countries that make up Africa including the capital cities using Google Earth. Further discussion and comparisons could be made between the Uk and Africa. What are the similarities and differences? Discussion is a really good way of improving your child's understanding in these area.
Then explore Egypt with Barnaby Bear.
The children have been really excited learning and researching into origins and developments of toys through time. They have also looked at who the toys are aimed at or designed for (baby, children, adult) and where they were made (geography).
In science the children have been looking at plants and growth. Including they key parts of a plant and tree, what they need to grow. Also observational skills and asking questions of the different stages of growth and what it looks like (beanstalk diary).
