Monday 1st March-
Good Morning! The final week of home learning is upon us. This week in phonics we will be learning the last of the ‘tricky words’ and also introducing the children to the letter names, although we know some children already know some of these.
So first it’s time for a phonics warm up! Have a go at the game listed below; you will need to select set 6,7,8,9 and 10.
Next, please practice recognising the 6 tricky words that we have learnt so far. You could hide the words around the house? Which ones do you recognise? Don’t forget that these words cannot be sounded out (he, she we, me, be, was).
Lastly, we would like you to have a go at learning the final Phase 3 tricky words please: they, all, are, you, my, her. We know these can be tricky but will work on these again tomorrow . You can practice writing these words using whatever media you choose. Here are just some ideas to make it fun!
Tuesday 2nd March-
Today we would like you to recap on all of the Phase 3 tricky words from yesterday please.
Below there is a link to a game you could play to revise these tricky words;
Well done, keep going! Only 3 more phonics sessions to do before we come back to school. You’re doing a super job!
Wednesday 3rd March-
Today we would like you to learn the alphabet song, focussing on the letter names. Follow the link below for a lovely song;
Next, to practice your blending we would like you to play the following game. Can you get 10 points?
Lastly, can you think of a word that starts with each letter of the alphabet? You could draw pictures and try to sound out the word to write a label. You could even make it into an alphabet book, like the one below. You will be working on this task over the next three days so please don’t feel you need to rush it.
Thursday 4th March-
Good morning, when you return to school we will be assessing your ‘Whizzy Words’ so please take some time today to go through these with your Mummy and Daddy. You should be working on three words and recognising them by sight.
Following on from yesterday we would like you to think about the letter names please. Watch the video below to help with this:
The last task for today’s phonics is to do a few more pages of your alphabet book, we can’t wait to see what you have produced.
Friday 5th March-
WOW it’s the last day of home learning! We can’t wait to get you all back in school.
Please use todays phonics time to once again practice your ‘Whizzy Words’ and then work on letter names. Below is another lovely super clip that will help:
Now you have a little bit of time to spend on your alphabet book. Please feel free to bring in your alphabet book next week as we would love to see it when you come back to school
See you all next week! xx
