You may be aware that new legislation comes into force on the 25th May 2018 which focuses on the way we gather, handle, store and dispose of data on our pupils, parents, staff and alumni. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will change how we use your/your child’s personal data and keep it safe, and will also strengthen your rights over your own/your child’s data. The point of this is to make sure that sensitive or private information about yourselves and your children stays safe. Whilst it is similar to the current Data Protection Act in many ways, there are a few differences so you may notice changes in the way we gather information in the future. The school already takes great care of the information we receive and we have robust and secure systems for both our electronic and paper records.

As a school we are required to collect certain information in order to carry out our core functions of providing education and ensuring the wellbeing and welfare of the children.

Over the coming months and into the new school year 2018

2018-2019 we will gather information to ensure GDPR compliance and we will keep you informed with regards to this. We are writing new privacy notices to explain in detail what information we will need from you, why it is needed, how it will be stored, who we share it with (if this is required) and how long it will be kept for. These will be available on our school website shortly.
