Poetry Cafe
As part of our guided reading lessons the children researched poems and chose their favourite that they would like to perform to the class. We spent a couple of days rehearsing our poems, thinking about our intonation, tone and volume before performing.
NSPCC Number Day
Year 4 had a great time celebrating Number Day and raising money for the NSPCC.
We all dressed up in an item of clothing which had a number on and took part in some fun Maths activities. The children designed and made their own maths games before challenging their friends.
Science - Sound
This half term we have been learning all about how sound travels.
Our learning consisted of:
Identifying how sounds are made.
Recognising that vibrations from a sound travel through a medium to the ear.
Finding patterns between the pitch of a sound and features of the object that produced it.
Finding patterns between the volume of a sound and the strength of the vibrations that produced it.
Recognising that sounds get fainter as the distance from the sound source increases.
Geography - Spring 1
This term our geography topic is Bella Italia. We we be focusing in on Europe, its capital cities and what each country is famous for.
We will be looking more in depth at Italy and its cities, in particular, Venice. We will look at why it is famous, why it is such an important tourist destination. We will then look at our home town of Evesham and compare physical and human geographical features to that of Venice.
We will be using maps, atlases and Google maps / google earth to help us.
ICT - Coding
Children have had the opportunity this half term to learn how to Code. This involved designing their own Pac man style computer games. Their tasks were to create a programme that followed simple sequences including debugging their programmes.
RE
This term we have been revisiting Hinduism. We have looked at important Hindu festivals such as Diwali (festival of lights) and Holi (festival of colour).
