World Book Day

We had a brilliant World book Day at St Richard's. Everyone came dressed as a word and looked fantastic! It was lots of fun guessing what words they represented and finding out the meaning if we didn't already know. The whole school enjoyed the story 'Barbra Throws a Wobbler' written by our brilliant Author of the term - Nadia Shireen! There were some real laugh out loud moments! And we all had a great time sharing our favourite, books, authors and general love of reading with our friends.

Some fab quotes from the day:

'My favourite part (of Barbra Throws a Wobbler) was when they called each other stinky bum head. It was soooo funny!'

'I've definitely felt like Barbra before.'

'I've thrown a wobbler!'

'I like reading non-fiction best because you can learn about loads of different things.'

'I love reading books about geography!'

'I like reading about spiders because they're really scary and funny!'

'The tiger who came to tea is my favourite book because it would be crazy having a tiger in your kitchen.'

Reading cafe

As part of our World Book Day celebrations, family members were invited to take part in a reading cafe here at school! The School Council suggested and organised the event with the help of our brilliant PTA and Mrs Burman. Children brought along their favourite book to share with their family memeber whilst enjoying a drink and a biscuit. Many people also brought along a book for a book exchange - thank you - what a fantasitc idea!

Thank you to everyone who came along to support the event and show what a significant role reading can play in our family lives. With a special thanks to the PTA, Mrs Burman and our wonderful school council! We can't wait for the next one!
