St Richard's

Church of England First School

Worship Committee

The worship committee comprises of a representative from each class from Year 1 to Year 5.

During weekly meetings, they help to develop St Richard's C of E First school as a church school, looking for opportunities for worship, leading on whole school projects, charitable work and leading whole school worship.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • to read Bible readings
  • attend weekly Worship Group meetings
  • feedback ideas for themes for worship, prayers and hymns
  • to promote faith in our school

Our worship committee aims to discover what worship means to our children and reflect on how we can improve worship. It supports our staff and children with their own personal spiritual development.

The committee will meet weekly and use our Christian values to support the work they complete around the school. It is an inclusive and structured forum where the children can have their own voice in relation to worship at school. They aim to make worship lively, engaging and fun whilst listening to others and discussing ways that they can enhance the worship experience for all.

Since the start of our worship committee, the children have started to take on more leadership roles in worship and, as a school, we have started to sing a wider range of hymns.  We have good links to our local church, St Peter's, and enjoy numerous services, at celebration times, within the church setting.

Advent Candle Display

St Richard's Prayer Leaders and Worship Committee have been really busy this morning creating our Advent candle display. We went outside and picked greenery and everyone had an opportunity to decorate it. Did you know each candle on the display represents different things? First Advent Candle - Hope. Second Advent Candle - Love.
Third Advent Candle - Joy. Fourth Advent Candle - Peace.
